Invest Africa announces new global advisory board with Rt Hon Mark Simmonds as Chair


London, 29th April: Africa’s leading network of private investors has announced a new global advisory board to capitalize on the new wave of confidence surrounding sub-Saharan Africa

in 2017. Invest Africa announced that it had secured key individuals to its global advisory board, including the appointment of Rt Hon Mark Simmonds, the former UK government minister to Africa who was responsible for stimulating and channeling foreign direct investment into Africa. Mr. Simmonds remarked, “I am honoured to chair the advisory board and to have such a distinguished, experienced and well-connected group of people from both politics and business to encourage the flow of global capital into Africa.” Commenting on the confirmation of Mark Simmonds as the new global advisory board Chair, Rob Hersov stated, “Mark Simmonds has been a leader in government, he is a true visionary in Africa, and I am now honoured to have him chair our Advisory Board. He is a long-standing friend of the continent and has generated a significant amount of goodwill between the UK and select African governments.”


Other key appointments to Invest Africa’s global advisory board include: Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of Nigeria; Runa Alam, Managing Partner of the private equity firm, Development Partners International; René Awambeng of Afreximbank; Dr. Carlos Lopez, former Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa; Koosum Kalyan, Chairman of EdgoMerap, and Lansana Kouyaté, the former Prime Minister of Guinea.


Regarding the new advisory board members, Mr. Hersov declared “we are now supported by a world-class advisory board that provides further connectivity to sub-Saharan Africa’s governmental, corporate and entrepreneurial community.
